Officer's Report
The application proposes the installation of a 269 gallon bunded oil tank at Descon Ltd, Tromode industrial Estate. The building is a mid terraced unit within the industrial estate. The oil tank is proposed to be installed to the rear of the property.
Onchan District Commissioners have considered the proposal and have recommended an approval. We have received no objections. The applicant has been in contact with Environmental Protection Officer regarding his concern of how close the proposed tank would be to the drains and possible spillage problems because of that. The applicant is aware of possible solutions which have been
given to him although the Environmental Protection Officer has stated that there are no regulations stipulating the separation distances of drains and oil tanks and that his advice is given as guidance.
The proposed oil tanks would seem appropriate in the proposed location and therefore my recommendation is for an approval.
