Westhill Farm Radio Mast Application Supplemental Information
Planning Permission: RSGB Advice to Members, cover page showing a typical antenna mounted on a tower (mast) – schematically, not to scale. I would want the freedom to put different antennas on the top, as part of amateur radio is experimentation, and trying different antennas is very much part of that.
FLI Versatower: showing the operation of the tower – it tilts over and cranks up for ease of changing antennas, making repairs, etc. I would probably keep the tower cranked partially down on a usual basis, to protect the antenna from the wind, but I would not want any fixed schedule of doing so.
Versatower 80: showing the different ways of mounting the tower on the ground (socket mount, post mount, base mount, block mount, and mobile trailer mount). I would propose to install either P80 post mount or BP80 base plate mount (one detail sheet for each attached), with that decision made after further consultation with the manufacturer and a local structural engineer. Guys would be required at full height (24m, about 80 ft). This height is about the same as the tower nearby on Jurby Road, and is one of the current “standard” heights from this UK manufacturer.
