Officer's Report
The application is for the installation of UPVC bottom opening casement or sliding sash windows to replace existing to front elevation at 70 Derby Road which is part of a 3 storey row of terraces, within a Conservation Area.
The applicant would prefer bottom opening casement windows as some of the neighbouring properties have that type of window, but if necessary would replace the existing with sliding sash windows. The existing windows of the property are sliding sash windows.
The Douglas Corporation has no objection to the application. There are no objections.
As the site is in a conservation area, a like for like would seem more appropriated (i.e. sliding sash design) and will not have a detrimental impact on the appearance of the area and that of the property.
Therefore my recommendation is for an approval, however ONLY regarding the installation of the sliding sash window design.
