Officer's Report
The application is for the installation of uPVC sliding sash windows to the front and gable elevation and uPVC top casement windows to the rear elevation at 2 Albert Street, which is part of a row of terraces (end terrace). The site is in a Conservation Area but is not a Registered Building.
The existing windows on the front elevation are sliding sash windows as are the rear and gable end windows. As the property in a Conservation Area the installation of uPVC sliding sash windows on the front and gable elevation would be not ideal as they are not timber framed, but still acceptable. As for the proposed rear elevation top casement uPVC windows, whilst they are a different design to the originals, the rear is only of limited interest as it is only seen from the back lane, and therefore they are acceptable.
The Douglas Corporation have no objection to the proposal. There are no objections from private residents.
The proposals would seem appropriate in these locations and therefore my recommendation is for an approval.
