Officer's Report
The application site is situated at Ballalheaney to the south of Andreas Road. The application site is currently a complex of building used by tourists. The site is set in the open countryside.
The extension is to allow the existing boiler to be relocated for building number 3 onto the rear elevation. To the south of this building is a 27m wide gap between two buildings. This gap allows extensive views across the open countryside. The proposed extension would be visible from the open countryside. However, the extension is relatively small scale and would not cause significant harm to the openness or character of the open countryside. I also feel the extension will not cause significant harm to the visual amenities of the locality.
In terms of the impact on the street scene of Andreas Road, the extension would be situated approximately 145m away from the public highway. In between is landscaping in the form of trees
and shrubs that will obscure any views of the extension. I consider the proposal will not cause demonstrable harm to the visual amenities of the street scene.
