Officer's Report
The application seeks approval for the erection of a greenhouse in the rear garden of and the erection of entrance gates onto a detached dwelling on Old Laxey Hill in Laxey.
The greenhouse has raised no objections and I consider it to be acceptable. The entrance gates have raised an objection from the DoT Highways Division and comment from Laxey Commissioners. The DoT Highways Division have objected on the gates that the use of the gates will require vehicles to be parked on the highway, contrary to the interests of road safety. The Commissioners have commented on the design of the gates. The concerns were put to the applicant, who has responded
to their points. I agree with the applicant and believe that the use of the gates would be insufficient grounds to base a refusal on. Accordingly, I recommend that the planning application be approved.
