Officer's Report
The application seeks approval for the conversion of a two-storey barn within a farm group in Jurby.
The buildings are within a farmstead comprising of a farmhouse and a group of redundant farm outbuildings. There are two concurrent planning applications (05/00339 & 05/00440) for the development of other parts of the farm group. I visited the site and discussed the proposals with the applicant’s agent prior to submission.
The proposed development includes elements of extension and I would suggest that the key issue in examining the proposal is whether this level of extension is acceptable. On balance I believe that the level of extension is offset by a combination of the removal of existing negative elements and the overall resultant development. On that basis I recommend that the planning application be approved.
