Officer's Report
This application relates to a mid terrace house in Peveril Terrace Douglas.
The proposal is to replace the rear door to the property and rear kitchen window and rear bedroom window. The property is not in a Conservation Area and the windows are not readily visible from any public thoroughfare so the policy would be to have preference for the same glazing pattern.
The existing door is wooden framed with small georgian window frames. It is proposed to replace this with a clear glass upvc door. The existing door is not in an original style and it is not visible from a public thoroughfare so this is considered to be acceptable. The existing kitchen window is wooden framed with a single pane of glass and is to be replaced with one that is the same glazing pattern in upvc and again is acceptable. The bedroom window appears to be an original wooden sash window with a centre transom and bars. This is to be replaced by upvc with a centre transom but no vertical bars. Although not the same glazing pattern given the variety of styles in the house and the location of the window looking inwards to the rear yard it is considered to be acceptable.
There will be no adverse impact from the proposal on the general amenity of the area.
