Laxey Mixed Business Statement of Case
- Area next to harbour office/toilets
An area for 5 vehicles is available on land in the dedicated ownership of the Department of Transport Properties and they have indicated their approval to this arrangement by their letter of the 22 December 2005 enclosed (Appendix E).
The land is owned by the Department of Transport Properties and they have again indicated that up to 20 spaces would be available subject to compliance with their car parking order.
- Area of land adjacent to the Shore Road Hotel
The land is owned by Laxey Village Commissioners and they have indicated by their letter of the 16th December 2005 their willingness to lease the land which will accommodate 7 vehicles (Appendix F).
3.07 It is considered therefore that more than 30 dedicated parking spaces can be identified within close proximity of the centre, which would comfortably accommodate the original 20 spaces required “off street”.

4.00 Summary
4.01 The Department of Trade & Industry are happy with the original approval and it is only the wording of condition 3 they are aggrieved by.
4.02 The Department of Trade & Industry have carried out discussions with all interested parties and are confident that 30 spaces can be identified in the near proximity.
4.03 It is the Department’s case therefore that the wording of condition 3 be reviewed to be more in line with that suggested at Review Stage, ie
The centre shall not be occupied or put into use until the parking provision for the unit is provided to the satisfaction of the planning authority after consultation with the Department of Transport Properties.
