Officer's Report
This application relates to the post office on the corner of Water Street and Court Row in the centre of Ramsey. The building is located in the middle of Ramsey Conservation Area.
The proposal is to erect a projecting sign on the front (east) elevation of the building next to the existing flat sign above the door. The sign will be the same design as the existing post office signs with a purple background and white lettering, and yellow and white livery symbol.
The sign is located alongside the existing sign where its impact on the building and area will be less obtrusive. The sign is 300mm in height and will project by just 450mm out from the building. It is relatively small and positioned high on the wall and so it will not have a great impact on the building or on the conservation area in general. The post office is located slightly off the main retail area and additional signage could be considered necessary to indicate its location.
