no views on the application, the application having been considered and having no adverse traffic impacts
no objections
Multiple consultees including Manx National Heritage, DAFF Wildlife, Highways Division, DTI, and Jurby Parish Commissioners responded to the sand pit extension application; most raised no objection but recommended conditions for restoration, phasing, and safety, while Highways had no views and Parish had no objections.
Key concern: Lack of long-term restoration plan and potential impacts on dune ecology and coastal protection
Manx National Heritage
Conditional No ObjectionManx National Heritage does not object to this application to extend the area of sand extraction, but recommends that a condition be attached to any approval notice...; For the avoidance of doubt, Manx National Heritage would object to any proposal to landfill in this area, including the tipping of 'inert' materials.
Conditions requested: Condition requiring long-term plan for the site including estimate of workable area, methods of operation, and proposed restoration scheme providing maximum opportunity for natural recolonisation
DAFF Wildlife and Conservation Office
Conditional No ObjectionSuitable planning conditions are proposed below.; No materials should be brought into the site as landfill unless agreed by DAFF as suitable for landscaping and vegetative recolonisation.
Conditions requested: Where practicable, sand extraction should be phased, with extraction and disturbance restricted to one area at any time; After completion of the extraction of sand from a part of the site, areas of loose sand must be planted with marram grass or covered with turf from any area on site that is being cleared for sand extraction. Such areas should then be protected from disturbance by vehicles; No materials should be brought onto the site as landfill, unless agreed by the Planning Committee; If previous conditions unsuccessful, scheme for landscaping and recolonisation of extracted areas by natural vegetation to be agreed with DAFF and MNH prior to works
