Officer's Report
The site represents the footprint of the Shoprite store in the Village Walk shoping precinct off Avondale Road. Permission was granted in principle for the conversion of the lower floor to a medical centre (PA 03/0841). Permission is now sought for the detail of that conversion.
The external changes include the closing off of an existing double doorway on the front elevation and the lower part of the doorway and surrounding windows blackened out for privacy for those working
behind, I assume, two louvre vents will be introduced in the brickwork wall alongside the steps but at a very high level: on the rear elevation four new windows are to be introduced (non-opening) and an existing roller shutter door removed. The new windows will not look directly towards the residential properties behind and in any case are separated them from by an existing lane.
This is a good facility for the village and should be supported.
