Officer's Report

The application seeks permission for a boarding cattery within a field adjacent to a detached dwelling in Bride.

The proposal comprises of 26 cat chalets arranged in an L-shape on a parcel of land adjacent to the applicant's dwelling. The chalets are timber framed buildings with attached open areas for exercise. The site was visited and the proposal discussed with the applicant prior to its submission. The field is suitably distanced with significant existing hedges around its perimeter and would not, in my opinion, cause any nuisance to surrounding properties. The field is not readily visible within the surrounding countryside. The adjacent property, which would allow access to the cattery, has sufficient space to allow vehicles to drop off and pick up animals without detriment to highway safety.

I consider that the proposal is an acceptable use of land within the countryside and has an acceptable impact on the surrounding area. I recommend that the application be approved.
