Officer's Report
This application follows 03/979 when permission was sought to demolish existing buildings (B and C) at Arragon Moar, Church Road, Santon.
The application proposes the renovation of these buildings and the incorporation of an MEA substation within the building.
Whilst the renovation of the buildings is welcomed, I am concerned as to the number of new openings in the North elevation of Block C. This elevation presently has 3 small openings in which it is proposed to install windows, however it is also proposed to create 2 large openings. I am concern as the loss of the expanse of quality stonework and also the stability of this wall.
I would recommend approval, but with the provision condition that the wall does not include the 2 large openings.

R 1 . Whilst the proposal indicates the retention of Building C, it is considered that the new openings proposed in the North Wing, North Elevation (Drawing Number: D520/07 Rev B) would result in the unacceptable loss of an example of properly constituted, coursed thin stones in this elevation.
