Planning permission is sought to extend Stoney Mountain Quarry and the period for quarrying for a further 5 years.
The extended area is located to the north west of the site and in an area that is presently vegetated with conifers.
The statement of case submitted with the application indicates that a long term masterplan will be prepared within the next 5 years, drawn up in consultation with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, the land owner, Manx National Heritage and the Wildlife Division.
Whilst the quarry is currently highly visible within the landscape, it is not considered that the extension will impact adversely on the visual amenity of the area.
