Application no. 03/01578/B Site visited YES Planning report and recommendations General report The application is for the erection of a flour silo within the curtilage of Ramsey Bakery in Ramsey. The area is zoned for industrial use within the Ramsey Local Plan and as such the erection of the silo is considered to be an acceptable given that it is required for the storage of flour as part of the manufacturing process within the bakery. I questioned the applicant whether it was possible to position the silo in less prominent position such as to the rear of the bakery buildings. They stated that this was not possible due restrictions on the distance that the silo can be located from the production area, the existing operational activity to the rear of the buildings, access arrangements to the silo and issues with the bakery's surface water drainage system. Given these reasons I accept that the silo can only be sited in the location proposed. Therefore, subject to a condition relating to the appropriate painting of the silo I consider that the proposal is acceptable.
