Officer Memo on Extensions
Department Of Local Government And The Environment ### Memorandum TO: Secretary to the Planning Committee FROM: Miss Sarah Corlett, Planning Officer REF: PA 00/00960 - alterations to existing unit to create retail unit, Strix Works, Bay View Road, Port Erin and PA 03/01239 - amendments to approved retail unit, alteration to amend pedestrian access and loading bay arrangement, former Strix Works, Bay View Road, Port Erin DATE: October, 2005 ### Extensions Of Time Both of these applications were the subject of appeals and both were approved by the Minster, despite objections from neighbouring residents, Port Erin Commissioners (to PA 00/0960) and the Planning Committee (to PA 03/01239). Both approval notices contain conditions which require that the pedestrian ramp is completed before any other part of the works are commenced and the latter approval also requires that if the development has not been commenced by 19th October, 2005 then this approval shall expire, in line with that of PA 00/00960. The applicant has struggled to commence the approved works due to liaison with Department of Trade and Industry and the Manx Electricity Authority and seeks a further twelve months to secure the commencement of the pedestrian ramp whereupon both approvals will have been taken up. There have been no changes in circumstances relating to either the site or the policies relating thereto and as such I would recommend that the applicant is permitted a further twelve months to commence both applications, thus both approvals will expire on 19th October, 2006.
