Reasons For Refusal
Application Ref No: 03/00467/B On Review
- It is considered that the existing building on site has lost any former residential use by abandonment and the proposal would therefore be tantamount to the creation of a new dwelling in open countryside and thereby contrary to the well established policies of the Department with regard to new development in the countryside.
- The proposed development would constitute sporadic development unrelated to an existing village and ribbon development alongside a principal traffic route, and would thus be detrimental to the amenities of a predominately rural area.
- Notwithstanding the above, the proposed extension is considered to be excessive in size and would significantly detract from the character and appearance of the existing building.
- This review has been considered by the Planning Committee on written evidence. Any additional submissions not previously circulated to interested parties are enclosed herewith.
