RE: Application No: 03/00035/C/2
To whom it may concern,
My name is Myles Davies and I live at the Tholt-y-Will Country apartments (formerly the Tholt-y-Will Hotel) and I am writing to you with regard to the above planning application for the tea rooms at the craft centre in Tholt-y-Will valley and would like to make the following points for consideration.
- I have a particular concern regarding the waste disposal not only from the commercial operation but from the customers that will be attracted to the glen. Please bear in mind that the waste is collected once a fortnight and any build up of waste would encourage long tails which is already an ongoing problem for the current residents.
- Over the last two years I have invested significant amounts of time, effort and money to market my business as a tranquil place to stay, with the emphasis on rest and relaxation. Having a tea rooms no more than 30 yards away with people making noise and leaving litter all over the place would seriously impact on my customers who just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area.
- My final concern is where are the vehicles going to park. The area opposite my property is in fact not designated as a car park but a store area for DAFF. If this is going to be used as a car park as it undoubtedly will, this impacts on my outlook. I don't really want to look out onto a car park especially when coaches will be trying to turn around all the time. In fact, as the Tholt-y-will road is already a very busy route, having coaches up and down would cause serious bottlenecks in many parts because the road is just not wide enough for two vehicles to pass especially at the top end where the road is single track with blind bends.
I do appreciate that everyone has the right to earn a living but feel that as an already existing business, and trying very hard to tailor my operation to suit the tranquility, beauty and energy of the surroundings, a tea rooms simply isn't in keeping with the area and would cause noise, traffic and waste pollution for the residents of the valley.
