Description: Widening of vehicular access and driveway
Highways Comments:
The proposal is acceptable in highway terms.
The alterations to the driveway are minimal, resulting in few potential road safety and highway efficiency issues.
Parking provision to the dwelling is retained achieving the Strategic Plan minimum standard of two car parking
spaces per dwelling.
The dwelling lies within a 20mph speed limit area. A required minimum visibility splay for such roads is 25m.
This visibility is achieved and subsequently improved to the south of the proposed vehicular access on widening,
achieving 37.6m. To the north, the maximum visibility splay is 20m, reduced by 0.6m on alteration. However, as
the dwelling is positioned on the radius of a junction, a full view of vehicular movements remains available. This
reduction is acceptable as the deficit is unlikely to cause material concern.
The alteration to the highway, in the form of extending the access and dropping kerbs, will require a S109(A)
Highway Agreement to be made post planning consent.
The proposal raises no significant road safety or highway network efficiency issues. Accordingly, Highway
Services raise no objection to the proposal subject to the condition for vehicular access arrangements, including
visibility splays, to accord with drawing No.02. An advisory for a S109(A) Highway Agreement to apply too.
