To the north boundary there is an exisiting private plantation. The Orchard consists of 30+ mixed fruit (Apple, Pear, Damson, Gages, Quince and Plum), and nut trees (Walnut, Hazelnut and Cobs) with numerous soft fruit canes interplanted. Another area at the Eastern end of the field has been set aside for coppice wood. #### Proposed Site layout: Location of planned Polytunnels, Highlighted in Yellow, Existing Market Garden area outlined in Grey Polytunnels are 16 foot wide by 35 foot long, shown to scale in this google earth image: |image.png| |---| The polytunnels are for the propagation of new plants and seedlings for planting out into the market garden area. they will provide an extended growing season for tender plants and soft fruits that would otherwise be difficult in the Manx Climate. They will provide protection particularly during the harsh winter months. This proposed development does not require any fixed foundation as the polytunnels use a “screw-in” system which can be easily removed at the end of the polytunnels design life (approx. 5 years). It will be complimentary to our orchard and outdoor soft fruits and will allow us indoor space for further processing of produce, and for undercover storage for a number of tools and agricultural machinery including a ride on mower, petrol strimmer, row covers, tree tubes and stakes, netting, potting compost, agricultural hand tools, wet weather clothing, first aid kit and small fire extinguisher. The location of the polytunnels has been chosen for convenient access to the lane serving the field and for visual amenity as they cannot be seen from any highway in this configuration. For context I would like to bring the attention of the planning department to a permitted planning application for polytunnels with a similar purpose to our own [13/00455/B].
