ON APPEAL: PA 09/1969/A - Mr John Maddrell - Approval in principle to erection of an agricultural worker's dwelling, Balla Ny Baa, Blue Point Road, The Lhen, Andreas

I refer to the recent appeal in respect of the above planning application. In accordance with the provisions of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005, I am enclosing herewith a copy of the report of the person appointed to consider this appeal.

The Minister has considered the report, concurs with the appointed person's conclusions, and accepts the recommendation that the appeal should be dismissed. Accordingly, he has directed that the decision under article 6 of the above Order to refuse permission should be confirmed.

The Minister also indicated that, having regard to the appointed person's assessment and conclusions in paragraphs 23 and 27 of the report, his decision is without prejudice to the submission of a further application once there are in place firm arrangements for the future of the agricultural business. Any such application should include not only full details of the business, but also analysis and consideration of alternative sites for the dwelling, having regard to Housing Policy 9 of the Strategic Plan.
