Re: 15/00921/B - Alterations and erection of a two storey extension to provide living and tourist living accommodation to dwelling, 1 Royal Park, Ramsey
Under the provisions of the Tourist Act 1975, this Department has a duty to maintain, encourage, develop, protect, promote and facilitate tourism in, to and from the Island to the best advantage of the Island (Tourist Act 1975 SS 1 and 2). The Department has an interest in this application by virtue of those provisions.
I have viewed the proposed plans and spoken with the applicant who is aware of the registration criteria. The plans meet the criteria and the applicant is keen to take advice on achieving the best quality finish to meet the expectations of visitors.
The proposal is in sympathy with the Department's policy to encourage quality tourist accommodation and I hope that this accommodation can achieve a minimum 4 Star rating.
In conclusion the Quality and Service Team at Isle of Man Tourism, Department of Economic Development fully supports the above planning application.
