Site
The site represents the residential curtilage of Merrieweathers, Ballure Road, Ramsey, which is a two-storey detached property, located on the western side of Ballure Road.
Land Use Zoning / Planning Policy
The property has been zoned under The Ramsey Local Plan Order 1998 as being within an area of "predominantly residential use". The application site is not within a Conservation Area.

Proposal The application seeks approval for the erection of a detached garage. The flat roofed structure would have a depth of 7 metres, a width of 6 metres and a height of 3.8 metres. The garage elevations would be finished in timber panels.
Representations Ramsey Commissioners:- "No objection" Highway Division:- "Do not oppose has no traffic management, parking or road safety implications." The Drainage Division makes no comment on the merit of the proposed development but requests that an informative note be attached to any approval decision notice.
The Authority has received no privately written representations objecting to the application. Assessment Whilst the proposal would be set forward of the dwelling, given the existing mature boundary landscaping which runs along the Ballure Road, the flat roofed nature of the structure, and the external finish (timber) the proposal would not become a feature detriment to the street scene, but sit comfortably within the surrounding landscape.
Recommendation For the reasons stated previously, it is considered the proposal would not contravene the Isle of Man Strategic Plan (June 2007) and therefore the application is recommended for a refusal.
