Planning Status And Relevant Policies
Within the adopted Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007, the following policies are considered to be relevant in the determination of this application: General Policy 2, Environment Policy 35.
Planning Circular 1/98 is also relevant in the determination of this application.
Assessment
The application is seeking Planning Permission for the installation of replacement windows into the front elevation of the property and a replace a window in the rear elevation of the property. The property is within a Conservation Area. The front windows to be installed are to be uPVC sliding windows and are to replicate the style of the existing windows, which is in accordance with Planning Circular 1 / 98.
The rear window will be an uPVC top opening casement window with glazing bars. Since the window is to the rear the policy is more flexible in terms of the method of opening. The proposed window is in accordance with Planning Circular 1/98.
It is considered the proposal will not adversely affect the character and appearance of the Conservation Area. It is recommended that planning permission granted subject to conditions.
