The Application Site And Proposed Development
The application site comprises the curtilage of Andreas School in Andreas.
The proposed development comprises the alteration and extension of the school building to provide office facilities.
Planning History
Whilst the application site has been the subject of a number of previous planning applications it is considered that none of these are specifically material to the assessment of the current planning application.
Representations
Andreas Parish Commissioners have no objections to the planning application.
The Department of Transport Drainage Division do not oppose the planning application.
Planning Policy
In terms of land use planning, the application site is designated as an area for Government of Service Department purposes.
In terms of strategic plan policy, although the Isle of Man Strategic Plan contains policies identifying general planning considerations that are applicable to the assessment of a planning application it is considered that there are no specific policies within the plan that are material to the assessment of this current planning application.
ASSESSMENT
The planning application seeks approval for the alteration and extension of the school building to provide office facilities.
The proposed development is relatively modest and in keeping with the overall size and character of the school. The proposal has a suitably limited impact on public and private amenity within the surrounding area.
It is recommended that the planning application be approved.
