Castletown Local Plan policy 2.12
Encourages use of upper floors of existing retail premises for residential or office use but discourages conversion from residential to office. The site is in a Mixed Use area. Officer acknowledged policy presumption against but overrode due to economic benefits and building maintenance in Conservation Area.
Castletown Area Plan policy C/RET/P2
Approval not likely for office accommodation at ground floor or upper floors where existing/last authorised use is residential, including Bank Street area. Officer noted policy aims to restrict to retail/residential but found exception justified by vacancy issues and modest scale.
Time limit
The use must be taken up within four years of the date of this notice in order for this approval to remain valid after that time.
Plans compliance
This permission relates to the use of the premises as an office as shown and described in the plans and information all received on 12th January, 2009.
Do not oppose. Change of use from retail to office is like for like and therefore off street parking arrangements will be the same. Close to town and public car parks.
