Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, Planning & Building Control Directorate, Murray House, Mount Havelock, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 2SF. Email [email protected]. Tel 01624 685950 NOTE The urine soak-away should be more than 10 metres from a watercourse or waterbody. If it is less than 10m, a discharge license application will be required, and additional treatment of the urine will be necessary. Percolation tests will need to be completed to check if the land is suitable for a soak-away and these are assessed by DEFA Building Control. Further information on how to complete a percolation test can be obtained by emailing [email protected]. This decision has been made for the following reasons(s) The proposed development would be justified in the countryside by virtue of providing an essential service in the Reserve and being a building associated with the interpretation of the island's wildlife. It would be a modest structure which would cause no harm to the landscape character of the area; and it would not be detrimental to the conservation interests of the designated Area of Special Protection for Birds. Provided that the manufacturers instructions are followed, the toilet would cause no harm in respect of pollution. Consequently the proposal would comply with all relevant legislation and Development Plan policy and is recommended for approval accordingly.
