Secretary to the Planning Committee Planning and Building Control Division Department of Infrastructure Murray House Mount Havelock Douglas IM1 2SF
Dear Sir
5th March 2015
RECEIVED ON 05 MAR 2015 DEPARTMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE
Re: Proposed alterations to existing workshop adjacent to "Close Kiare", Glen Darragh Road, Glenvine, Isle of Man.
This letter provides a brief summary and explanation of our proposals as follows.
Replacement of cladding/roof
The exterior colour of the building has faded considerably and is no longer sympathetic to its surroundings. The roof sheets are cracked and leaking and both the roof and walls of the building are uninsulated.
We propose to fit insulated sheets with an exterior colour such as Juniper Green (BS12 B29 RAL 160 2010) subject to any requirement the Committee may determine.
Replacement of doors (2) on front elevation and creation of fire exit/access door
The existing manually operated front doors are uninsulated and are often left open unnecessarily. In practice this can lead to a significant loss of heat from the building.
We propose to replace front doors with insulated electrically operated sectional up and over doors (in a similar colour to the above). In order to maintain existing headroom clearance at the entrance and accommodate the new door operating mechanism/panels it will be necessary to increase the building height by approximately 600mm.
We believe that the proposals would significantly improve the external appearance of the building and environmental/working conditions.
The work will not increase the floor area of the building and will not result in increased business activity or traffic movement at the site.
We trust that this is of assistance to the Department in considering our application and would be pleased to supply any further information in connection with the matter.
