CASE REFERENCE DF11/0005 PLANNING APPLICATION 11/00220/D
Application by Manx Transport Trust for planning permission for the erection of signage at Hangar 230, Jurby Industrial Estate, Jurby IM7 3BD.
THE SITE AND SURROUNDINGS AND THE DEVELOPMENT PROPOSED
The Jurby Transport Museum opened about a year ago in a large detached industrial building on the western edge of the Jurby Industrial Estate. The building stands at a bend in one of the internal access roads of the estate, with its entrance facing north. The building is clad in grey sheeting, with edge trims and doors picked out in red/pink.
The development proposed is the application of two signs, each 950mm high, 3040mm long stating the purpose of the building, together with a circular logo. One would be on the front of the building, to the left of it, and the other on the north western corner.
REPRESENTATIONS RECEIEVED
ADVICE FROM THE PLANNING AND BUILDING CONTROL DIVISION
The site lay in an area zoned as "Airfield"; and within an area of High Landscape or Coastal Value and Scenic Significance. The planning history of the area is the establishment of an industrial estate. The use of the building as a museum was approved in 2008.
If permission is granted, two conditions of a standard nature are advised.
