I wish to enter comment against the planning application to relocate the bail hostel and Probation services to Tromode House. Have considered the impact this will have on what is a semi-rural area. My main concerns are the type of people that will be homed at the facility such as Sex Offenders and Paedophiles. Tromode House sits at the heart of Tromode village and is a major transit point for Children. The School Bus Stop is directly outside Tromode House. Children also transit past the house night and day on their way to the Sports Fields at Baliafletcher and the football and cricket grounds on Tromode Road. We also have the Duck Pond at the end of Carrs Lane Industrial Estate where many Children play in an absolute rural area, as well as the Cadets at the Tromode Drill Hall.
As I understand, the residents of the Bail Hostel will be free to come and go as they please. This will put offenders in direct contact with young Children and women when returning to the Hostel. I believe they are not under any supervision whilst outside. The areas I have described are very dark and extremely quiet with very few pedestrians or cars passing. I believe this will create opportunity for people wishing to offend and will put our Children at risk. I currently allow my own Children to walk to Sea Cadets at the Tromode Drill Hall and to take our Dogs for a walk to the Duck Pond in Carrs Lane Industrial Estate. I would certainly never allow this if the Hostel was relocated to Tromode House.
I have never objected to anything in my life but feel strongly about this move because lots of young Children tend to play within the area as they are too young for Town or Town is too far. I fear my own Children will now be confined to the House if the move goes ahead. My own research on the internet would suggest that more re offending is committed in Bail Hostels in rural locations than in built up areas due to Boredom and more critically the opportunity dark lanes and fields present to them.
I would ask you to reconsider this move as it will be when not if an offence occurs. I hope our Government is not allowing financial decisions to take priority over the safety of our Children.
Yours truly,
