A Registered Building is a building of special architectural or historic interest which has been included in the Department's Protected Buildings Register.
It is an offence to carry out any works (internally or externally) affecting the character of a Registered Building without the written consent of the Department.
An up to date list of the Register is available from the Department or its website.
An application to de-register a building under Regulation 7, must state the reasons for making the application.
FOUR copies of this form and any supporting information must be submitted.
The applicant's attention is drawn to the Policy and Guidance Notes for the Conservation of the Historic Environment of the Isle of Man (Planning Policy Statement 1/10 is available from Planning and Building Control), plus the relevant entry on the Protected Buildings Register.
Please note that applications to de-register a building may only be made by the owner or occupier and any person having an interest in the building and must be requested within 21 days of the original notice of registration being issued. Subsequently no further applications to de-register a building may be made.
Please complete in BLOCK CAPITALS and in black ink. All relevant questions on this form must be answered.
BALLARADCUFFE HOUSE KLONDROGHAD ED ANDREAS 1M7 3EL
Registered Building Number 247
Reasons for making the application to de-register the building
Following the purchase of the property, planning permission was sought and subsequently granted. The result of those works is a house which has been sympathetically developed, but which bears very little resemblance to the original. As the building is no longer a good example of a Georgian property, it does not offer any architectural interest or aesthetic quality. Also, the importance of Ballaradcliffe as a country estate was lost many years ago when the Radcliffe family themselves sold the farmyard and land to the first side of the property for development. Any trace of former residents has been completely lost and would therefore diminish the value of any historic association which were mentioned in the recommendation for inclusion on the register.
