Environment Policy 35
Requires that within Conservation Areas, development preserves or enhances character/appearance and protects special features. Assessed as having little impact on the adjacent Peel Conservation Area, with the railing relocation arguably improving appearance by removing angled line and enhancing visitor appreciation of harbour operations.
Environment Policy 36
Permits development outside but close to Conservation Area boundaries only if not detrimentally affecting important views. The proposal outside the boundary but along its edge was found to preserve views and enhance nautical character without detriment.
Time limit
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
Approved plans
This permission relates to the re-siting of the existing railings and paving works as shown in drawing reference 190B.
The relocated railings would have little impact on the character and appearance of the Conservation Area. Arguably, removing the angled line of railing would improve appearance while ready access to the slipway would be more conducive to visitor understanding and appreciation of the harbour. Open access would be an operational improvement.
