The Site

The application site relates to the detached property Moorhouse, Handleys Corner, Kirk Michael.

The Proposal

This application seeks approval for the erection of an entrance porch to replace an existing conservatory on the southern elevation. The porch would have a traditional appearance which would match the existing dwelling.

Planning Status

The application site is located within an area identified as being of High Landscape or Coastal Value and Scenic Significance by the 1982 Development Order.

Planning History

The following previous planning applications are considered relevant in the assessment and determination of this application:

05/01227/B sought approval for the erection of an extension to provide a kitchen. This was approved.

Michael Commissioners do not object to this application.

Assessment

The existing conservatory is a non traditional addition to the property. The proposed porch would have a traditional design and would be in-keeping with the existing dwelling. It is judged that the proposal would improve the appearance of the existing property.

Recommendation

Permit.

It is considered that the following parties, who submitted comments, accord with the requirements of Planning Circular 1/06 and are therefore, afforded Interested Party Status:

C 2. This approval relates to the erection of an entrance porch to replace existing conservatory, Moorhouse, Handleys Corner, Michael as shown by LP01, SP01, CMC01-A, CMC02-A, CMC03-A, CMC01, CMC02, CMC03 and Photographs all received 23rd April 2010.

C 3. The external finishes of the extension must match those of the existing building in all respects.
