Housing Policy 15
Requires extensions or alterations to traditionally styled countryside properties to respect the proportion, form and appearance of the existing property, with permission only exceptionally for extensions over 50% of existing floor space (measured externally). The officer tested the single-storey proposal against the traditional two-storey derelict building, finding it unbalanced and failing to retain traditional appearance. Combined with the approved PA 05/00998/B extension, the 92% floor space increase far exceeded the threshold with no exceptional justification, leading to non-compliance.
