Planning Statement
Proposed Alterations to Existing Building to Form Dwelling known as Curphey's, Ballasalla to St. Mark's Road, Malew for Mr. R. Q. Radcliffe.
The enclosed planning application shows alterations to the existing buildings to once again reestablish the buildings as a habitable dwelling.
Formerly, Curphey's consisted of the twin-stacked dwelling house to the left with a barn or store to the right linked by an outhouse, which now has a modern roof.
The proposal is to alter this layout so that the dwelling house is formed on the right and the lefthand portion still remains part of the dwelling house, but by virtue of its design becomes subordinate to the living and kitchen accommodation.
The proposal consists of carrying out repairs to the existing walls, structural works including construction of a ring beam and internal load-bearing walls and finishing off with a natural slate roof, pointed stone work and sliding sash barn style windows.
The Department of Transport has visited the site and they have indicated visibility is not an issue since there are natural visibility splays in the form of a verge and the road is perfectly straight for approximately 500 m .
Drainage will not be an issue since the property owner also owns the surrounding fields.
