The officer considered the potential impact of removing the two rear chimney stacks on the appearance of the dwellings and the street scene along Bride Road.
General Policy 2
General Policy 2 permits development in accordance with land-use zoning and other plan policies provided it respects the site and surroundings in terms of siting, layout, scale, form, design; does not adversely affect the character of the townscape or amenity of residents; and meets other criteria like access and safety. The officer assessed the chimney removal against these, particularly aspects (b), (c), and (g) on siting, design, townscape character, and amenity. The partial visibility of the rear stacks and lack of significant visual impact meant the proposal passed these tests without tension.
