The main consideration was whether the proposed works would respect the proportion, form and appearance of the existing property, as required by Housing Policy 15.
Housing Policy 15
Housing Policy 15 states that the extension or alteration of existing traditionally styled properties in the countryside will normally only be approved where these respect the proportion, form and appearance of the existing property, and only exceptionally for extensions over 50% of existing floor space. The officer assessed the proposal against this, noting no floor space increase and that the lean-to roof over the existing annexe improves harmony with the property's form, while minor fenestration changes have no adverse impact.
