General Policy 2
Requires development to respect building lines, form good design, protect character/appearance of areas, safeguard residential amenity, and protect highway safety. Officer assessed proposal as compliant (b,c,g,i,m) due to best-practice siting, limited visual harm, no amenity loss, and adequate footway (1.2m min). Committee disagreed, finding height/scale/cabling/footpath narrowing harmed streetscene character in bungalow area (b,c,h), failing policy tests.
Strategic Policy 1
Supports development in Douglas settlement boundary/residential zone. Officer confirmed principle acceptable as site zoned residential.
Environmental Policy 22
Safeguards environment/amenities (iii). Officer found no nuisance (noise/light etc.) or public health risks.
No Objection
No significant negative impact upon highway safety, network functionality and/or parking as at least 1.2m footway width is maintained around the poles
Multiple residents from Eary Veg and Slieau Dhoo in Tromode Park submitted strong objections to the installation of 4 telegraph poles for fibre communications, citing visual impact, property devaluation, wildlife hazards, and preference for underground cabling.
Key concern: significant visual impact ruining views and devaluing properties in a low-rise residential cul-de-sac

ObjectionI want to object in the strongest terms possible against Manx Telecom's application to install 4 telegraph poles and wiring in Eary Veg and any other section of Tromode Park.; The outlook for the cul-de-sac will be ruined forever and we’ll be subject to ongoing mental anguish every time we look out of our windows.; Please please reject these plans. Manx Telecom should be made to provide underground services at their expense.

ObjectionI am writing to object in the strongest possible terms to plannng application number 25/90376/B which has been submitted by Manx Telecom.; The prospect of such "blots on the landscape" which will reduce the value and saleability of my property is extremely upsetting.; If the fibre network is supposed to be such a technological advance, why is such an antiquated and unsightly method being proposed?

ObjectionWe are writing to strongly object to the planning application to install 9 metre tall telegraph poles and associated wires in Eary Veg on the Tromode Park estate.; Such poles are a blot on the landscape in what has always been regarded as a very desirable place to live and would also devalue properties.; We oppose any such proposals for anywhere on the Tromode Park estate.
