no direct objections, but concern with integrity of retaining walls (request Building Control check) and impact of raised parking on streetscene character
A neighbouring resident at Emscote, Highfield Drive, Baldrine raised objections to the proposed parking bay and summerhouse regarding structural stability, visual impact, and inaccuracies in the application.
Key concern: lack of retaining walls risking collapse of gardens and compromise to adjacent properties
Resident of Emscote, Highfield Drive, Baldrine
ObjectionI do not see any details of retaining walls around the parking area. Based on the workmanship of previous projects on this site I am worried that not building any retaining walls will result in collapse of the remaining gardens, which could compromise adjacent properties.; My concerns are exacerbated by the fact that he is planning to do the work himself and not engage the services of a professional contractor.; I am also concerned about the strength of the existing wall alongside the public path way will it be able to support the weight of the parking area and parked cars.; Plus, it appears that the new parking area will be approx. 1m above the road level, I am concerned that parking cars at this elevation will have an impact to the street scene.; Finally, I am concerned about the use of a galvanised roof on the proposed summer house, this material not being in keeping with other nearby buildings, which are mostly wooden or tiled.; I would also like to highlight the error on the application form, as the applicant indicates there are currently 0 parking spaces on the existing site, and the development will add 2. However, the site already has a drive for 2 cars, and so this proposal would result in parking for potentially 4 cars.
