Re: Application No: 25/90186/GB Proposal: Pedestrian access gate off Crossags Lane Address: Milntown Estate Glen Auldyn Ramsey Isle Of Man IM7 2AB Applicant: Milntown Estate Limited
Dear Mr Jepson,
Thank you for sending us the details of a planning application by Milntown Estates.
The proposed application affects our property, as according to the plan, the gateway if constructed will be directly opposite a window of a main room of our house. When we first noticed the application, it was for approval for a gateway to Crossags Lane, we first thought this would not affect us. When we closely examined the plan we noticed that the application was for a “Pedestrian access gate off Crossags Lane.” (which is hundreds of metres away). We have lived here for more than 30 years and it has been known as “Garrett’s Lane” not Crossags Lane. Garrett’s Lane was taken over by the D of I many years ago and is a public highway without a footpath. See plan attached naming Garrett’s Lane.
As local residents, we are concerned about the potential safety risks associated with this proposal, particularly with regard to pedestrian access to the road adjacent to the property and our property. The road in question lacks a footpath, making it unsuitable and unsafe for more pedestrian traffic particularly from parties of young school children. Approving this application may increase pedestrian usage of the road, potentially leading to dangerous situations, as vehicles and pedestrians would be forced to share the same space. This poses a significant risk. In addition to the safety risks, We believe the proposed development may not align with local planning policies designed to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. I urge the planning authority to consider

whether this proposal complies with relevant guidelines and policies before making a decision. It should be noted that the application should be for Garretts Lane and NOT Crossags Lane which has been so confusing to us. In addition, it is a concern that NO site notices have been displayed in Garrett’s Lane! There are plenty of other access points to the hairpin tree planting project via Crossags Lane or the Ramsey hairpin, without having to use the Milntown estate. No thought has been given on whether neighbours will be affected by this application. Yours sincerely,
