ALL ACCESS/INSPECTION HATCHES ARE TO BE PROPRIETARY MANUFACTURED WITH QUICK RELEASE CATCHES AND SELF SEALING GASKETS. 10. ALL ACCESS/INSPECTION PANELS SHALL REMAIN ACCESSIBLE, THE INSULATION CONTRACTOR SHALL SUITABLY DRESS THE EDGES OF THE INSULATION TO THE EDGE OF THE ACCESS OPENING. 11. THE USE OF FLEXIBLE DUCTWORK SHALL BE LIMITED TO 1000mm IN LENGTH TO MAKE FINAL CONNECTIONS ONLY. 12. DUCTWORK SHALL BE MANUFACTURED WITH GRADUAL TRANSFORMATIONS AND CHANGES OF SHADE/DIRECTION. 13. TURNING VANES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ALL RECTANGULAR SECTION DUCTWORK AT ALL CHANGES IN DIRECTION WHETHER INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS OR NOT. 14. SPLITTERS SHALL BE INCORPORATED WITHIN RECTANGULAR DUCTWORK WITH AN ASPECT RATIO OF GREATER THAN 4:1 AS DW/144 WHETHER INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS OR NOT. 15. FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS SHALL BE INCORPORATED WITHIN THE DUCTWORK SYSTEM TO ISOLATE THE DUCTWORK DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM FROM VIBRATION PRODUCING EQUIPMENT. 16. GRILLES AND DIFFUSERS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH THE MANUFACTURERS PURPOSE MADE PLENUM BOX (SIDE OR TOP ENTRY SPIGOT AS NECESSARY) WHERE INDICATED. 17. ALL GRILLES AND DIFFUSERS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH OPPOSED BLADE DAMPERS WITHIN THE DUCTWORK SERVING THE GRILLE OR DIFFUSER. 18. ALL GRILLES AND DIFFUSERS SHALL HAVE A FINISH/COLOUR TO SUIT THE ARCHITECTS REQUIREMENTS. 19. ALL FANS SHALL BE MOUNTED COMPLETE WITH ANTI-VIBRATION MOUNTINGS. 20. BALANCING AND CONTROL DAMPERS SHALL BE INCLUDED WITHIN THE DUCTWORK SECTIONS AS INDICATED UPON THE DRAWINGS AND PROVIDED WITH AN INDICATING DEVICE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE DAMPER PROVIDING VISUAL INDICATION OF THE DAMPER POSITION. 21. ALL CONTROL DAMPERS SHALL BE HAND ADJUSTABLE WITH A LOCKING DEVICE AND SHALL BE MULTI-BLADE, DOUBLE SKINNED TYPE WITH OPPOSED BLADE ACTION. 22. ALL BRANCHES FROM THE MAIN DISTRIBUTION DUCTS SHALL BE BY A SHOE-BRANCH FITTING. 23. ALL VRF SYSTEM INSTALLATIONS MUST BE CARRIED OUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER’S GUIDELINES AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, AS WELL AS IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE LOCAL REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS. 24. THE MAIN CONTRACTOR AND MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR MUST ENSURE THAT THE LOCATION OF THE OUTDOOR UNITS IS PLANNED TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE VENTILATION AND TO AVOID SHORT CYCLING. THE UNITS MUST BE POSITIONED TO ALLOW UNOBSTRUCTED AIRFLOW AND EASY ACCESS FOR FUTURE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING. 25. THE INSTALLATION OF INDOOR UNITS MUST BE COORDINATED WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL AND INTERIOR LAYOUT TO ENSURE THAT THE UNITS ARE POSITIONED TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL AIR DISTRIBUTION AND MINIMAL VISUAL IMPACT. UNITS SHOULD NOT BE INSTALLED DIRECTLY ABOVE SENSITIVE EQUIPMENT OR AREAS THAT REQUIRE A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT. 26. DUCTWORK CARRYING HEATED AND/OR CHILLED AIR MUST BE INSULATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH BS 5422:2023. CONNECTED PLENUMS MUST BE FACTORY-FITTED WITH 13MM NITRILE RUBBER INSULATION (ARMAFLEX OR EQUAL AND ACCEPTED). 27. ALL REFRIGERANT PIPEWORK MUST BE INSTALLED USING MATERIALS SPECIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND SHOULD FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDED PIPE SIZING AND ROUTING GUIDELINES. ENSURE THAT PIPE RUNS ARE KEPT AS SHORT AND DIRECT AS POSSIBLE TO MINIMIZE PRESSURE LOSS AND AVOID UNNECESSARY BENDS. 28. ALL PIPE JOINTS MUST BE BRAZED USING A SUITABLE NITROGEN PURGE TO PREVENT INTERNAL OXIDATION. ONCE THE SYSTEM IS ASSEMBLED, A THOROUGH PRESSURE TEST MUST BE PERFORMED USING DRY NITROGEN, FOLLOWED BY A VACUUM TEST TO ENSURE THE SYSTEM IS FREE FROM LEAKS AND MOISTURE. 29. REFRIGERANT CHARGE CALCULATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER’S SPECIFICATIONS, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE LENGTH OF PIPE RUNS, ELEVATION CHANGES, AND ANY ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS SUCH AS BRANCH BOXES. THE SYSTEM MUST BE CHARGED WITH THE CORRECT TYPE AND AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT AS SPECIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER. 30. CONDENSATE DRAINAGE SYSTEMS MUST BE PROPERLY DESIGNED AND INSTALLED TO PREVENT WATER LEAKAGE AND BLOCKAGES. THE DRAINAGE PIPING SHOULD HAVE A CONSISTENT SLOPE AND INCLUDE APPROPRIATE TRAPS, INSULATION, AND ACCESS POINTS FOR CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE. 31. ELECTRICAL WIRING MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL RELEVANT ELECTRICAL REGULATIONS. POWER SUPPLY AND CONTROL WIRING MUST BE CORRECTLY SIZED AND PROTECTED, ENSURING THAT PROPER SEGREGATION IS MAINTAINED BETWEEN POWER AND SIGNAL CABLES. ALL ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS MUST BE TIGHTENED TO THE RECOMMENDED TORQUE SETTINGS TO PREVENT LOOSE CONNECTIONS. 32. CONTROL SYSTEMS MUST BE CONFIGURED TO ENABLE THE INTENDED FUNCTIONALITY OF THE VRF SYSTEM, INCLUDING INDIVIDUAL ZONE TEMPERATURE CONTROL, CENTRALIZED MANAGEMENT, AND INTEGRATION WITH OTHER BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS IF REQUIRED. ALL CONTROL CABLES MUST BE CLEARLY LABELED AND ROUTED TO AVOID ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE. 33. UPON COMPLETION OF THE INSTALLATION, A COMPREHENSIVE COMMISSIONING PROCESS MUST BE CONDUCTED BY A QUALIFIED SPECIALIST. THIS INCLUDES VERIFYING REFRIGERANT PRESSURES, CHECKING ALL CONTROL FUNCTIONS, AND ENSURING THAT EACH UNIT IS OPERATING WITHIN THE RECOMMENDED PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS. 34. A DETAILED RECORD OF THE INSTALLATION, INCLUDING PIPING LAYOUTS, WIRING DIAGRAMS, AND REFRIGERANT CHARGE DATA, MUST BE SUBMITTED AS PART OF THE HANDOVER DOCUMENTATION. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS, ALONG WITH ANY MANUFACTURER’S CERTIFICATES, SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED TO SUPPORT FUTURE MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES. 35. ADEQUATE CLEARANCE MUST BE PROVIDED AROUND BOTH INDOOR AND OUTDOOR UNITS TO ALLOW FOR SAFE SERVICING, MAINTENANCE, AND REPLACEMENT. ENSURE THAT THERE IS SUFFICIENT SPACE FOR THE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF KEY COMPONENTS SUCH AS COMPRESSORS, FANS, AND FILTERS. FIRE PROTECTION 1. ALL GAPS AROUND SERVICE PENETRATIONS MUST BE FULLY FIRE-STOPPED TO MAINTAIN THE FIRE RESISTANCE OF THE WALL, FLOOR, OR CEILING IN WHICH THEY ARE LOCATED. THE MAIN CONTRACTOR MUST ENGAGE A CERTIFIED FIRE-STOPPING SPECIALIST TO INSTALL THE FIRE-STOPPING MATERIALS TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER’S CERTIFIED CONSTRUCTION DETAILS. FIRE-STOPPING SHOULD BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH BS EN 1366 AND OTHER APPLICABLE REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS. ANY OPENINGS THAT NEED TO BE SEALED MUST ADHERE TO THE FIRE RESISTANCE, SMOKE CONTAINMENT, AND ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE RATINGS AS SPECIFIED BY THE DESIGN. 2. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF FIRE COLLARS, FIRE DAMPERS, SMOKE DAMPERS, AND COMBINED FIRE AND COLD-SMOKE MOTORIZED DAMPERS WHERE REQUIRED BY THE DESIGN OR LOCAL CODE. ALL FIRE AND SMOKE DAMPERS MUST BE INSTALLED AND TESTED IN COMPLIANCE WITH BS EN 1366-2 AND SHOULD BE FITTED WITH APPROPRIATE ACCESS FOR MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION. ENSURE THAT EACH DAMPER IS INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND CERTIFIED CONSTRUCTION DETAILS TO ACHIEVE THE SPECIFIED FIRE AND SMOKE RESISTANCE. CONFIRM ALL DAMPERS ARE INTERFACED WITH THE BUILDING’S FIRE ALARM SYSTEM AND THAT FAIL-SAFE POSITIONS ARE SET AS PER THE FIRE STRATEGY. 3. MECHANICAL SERVICE PENETRATIONS, SUCH AS PIPES AND DUCTS, THAT PASS THROUGH FIRE-RATED ELEMENTS MUST BE FITTED WITH PROPRIETARY FIRE COLLARS, FIRE SLEEVES, OR WRAPS AS PER THE MANUFACTURER’S RECOMMENDATIONS AND LOCAL FIRE CODES. ALL PROPRIETARY COLLARS AND WRAPS SHOULD BE BS EN 1366 CERTIFIED AND INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPROVED CONSTRUCTION DETAILS. FIRE COLLARS SHOULD HAVE THE CORRECT INTUMESCENT MATERIALS TO PROVIDE THE SPECIFIED LEVEL OF PROTECTION BASED ON THE SERVICES PASSING THROUGH. 4. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT ALL POWER, CONTROL, AND FIRE ALARM WIRING ASSOCIATED WITH FIRE COLLARS, SMOKE DAMPERS, AND FIRE DAMPERS IS PROPERLY COORDINATED WITH THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR AND COMPLIES WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF BS 5839 (FIRE DETECTION AND ALARM SYSTEMS). ENSURE APPROPRIATE FIRE-RESISTANT CABLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ARE IN PLACE FOR ALL FIRE-CRITICAL CONTROL WIRING, WITH SEGREGATION FROM GENERAL ELECTRICAL SERVICES WHERE REQUIRED. THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM MUST BE TESTED AND COMMISSIONED WITH ALL DAMPERS, FIRE COLLARS, AND OTHER INTERFACED EQUIPMENT TO ENSURE COMPLETE FUNCTIONALITY IN BOTH NORMAL AND FIRE SCENARIOS. 5. THE MAIN CONTRACTOR MUST ENSURE THAT ALL FIRE-STOPPING WORKS ARE CERTIFIED BY THE INSTALLATION SPECIALIST AND PROVIDE ALL RELEVANT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION UPON COMPLETION. ALL FIRE AND SMOKE DAMPERS, FIRE COLLARS, AND FIRE-STOPPING INSTALLATIONS SHOULD HAVE A DETAILED COMMISSIONING REPORT, INSTALLATION CERTIFICATES, AND OPERATION & MAINTENANCE MANUALS SUBMITTED AS PART OF THE HANDOVER DOCUMENTATION. 6. EACH FIRE AND SMOKE ZONE SHOULD BE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED ON THE DRAWINGS AND COORDINATED WITH THE BUILDING’S OVERALL FIRE STRATEGY. DAMPERS, COLLARS, AND OTHER FIRE-STOPPING MEASURES SHOULD BE POSITIONED TO ENSURE INTEGRITY BETWEEN SEPARATE FIRE AND SMOKE CONTROL ZONES. 7. THE DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF ALL FIRE-STOPPING, COLLARS, AND DAMPERS MUST CONSIDER FUTURE ACCESS FOR MAINTENANCE, INSPECTION, AND REPLACEMENT. ACCESS DOORS AND PANELS FOR FIRE AND SMOKE DAMPERS SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED AND PROVIDE SUFFICIENT SPACE FOR SAFE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE. 8. THE FIRE PROTECTION STRATEGY AND NOTES SHOULD BE COORDINATED WITH ARCHITECTURAL AND STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS TO ENSURE THERE ARE NO CLASHES AND THAT THE DESIGN INTENT IS MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT. REGULAR COORDINATION MEETINGS BETWEEN THE MAIN CONTRACTOR, MEP CONTRACTOR, AND FIRE-STOPPING SPECIALIST ARE RECOMMENDED TO ENSURE THAT ALL FIRE AND SMOKE PROTECTION MEASURES ARE INSTALLED AND CERTIFIED CORRECTLY. 9. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF BOTH THE MAIN CONTRACTOR AND THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR TO OBTAIN AND FULLY REVIEW THE SIGNED- OFF FIRE COMPARTMENT DRAWINGS AND FIRE ENGINEERING STRATEGY FROM THE ARCHITECT AND FIRE ENGINEER PRIOR TO COMMENCING THE PRODUCTION OF THE WORKING DRAWINGS.
