Mr Grant Taylor Station Road Castletown IM9 1EF
In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture determined to APPROVE an application by Mr Grant Taylor, Ref 25/00216/CON, for the Registered Building Consent for installation of multi-fuel stove in waiting room fireplace, replacement of sub-floor and installation of slate hearth within station master's office, and installation of timber sheeting to goods shed ceiling RB 257 at Castletown Railway Station Station Road Castletown Isle Of Man IM9 1EF .
Any conditions or notes which apply to the approval are set out below. This approval is subject to compliance with any conditions listed and may not be implemented until it becomes final (see guidance notes).
Reason: To comply with paragraph 2(2)(a) of schedule 3 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1999 and to avoid the accumulation of unimplemented registered building consents.
This decision relates to the plaque specification and other details submitted on 27th February 2025.
This decision has been made for the following reasons(s) The proposed installation of a multi-fuel stove and timber sheeting to the goods shed ceiling are judged to be elements that would involve the removal of no historic fabric and be entirely reversible, and as such are considered to preserve and protect the building's special interest. Whilst the replacement of the fireplace sub-floor within the Station Master's Office would involve the removal of existing fabric, the replacement would result in the restoration of a historic feature and as such this element is judged to preserve and partly enhance the special interest of the registered building. The application is therefore judged to be acceptable.
