Description / Scope of Works

The Boots store in Douglas is to undergo some internal fit out improvements. Part of the scope includes work to bring the external fascia and projecting signs up to date with the current Boots design standards.

This advert consent application is for the full replacement of the existing fascia and projecting signs, comprising 3no. sections of fascia panel, 3no. Boots logo panels, Projecting cross sign, and the pharmacy, 2n. crosses and beauty elements of the main central fascia panel.

The new signage will also comprise 3no. fascia panel sections to the same width and height as existing. These are folded aluminium and finished in the core Boots blue colour.

There will be 1no. internally illuminated Boots logo in white, 1no. square internally illuminated projecting sign, and then 2no. sets of internally illuminated text (Pharmacy and Beauty), which site flush within the depth of the fascia panels.

Context The Douglas Boots Store is neither a registered building or in a conservation area.

Access The premise is level & accessible.

Design Impact Statement

The works to update the signage will remove signage that is in part in poor condition due to damage and rust. The new signage consolidates some of the Boots brand signage and presents a cleaner more co-ordinated design onto the high street.

We propose that these works are to the betterment of the building and the surrounding area, and will have no negative impact.
