The proposed Prairie Beds Planting list includes Montbretia, which is a non-native invasive plant species included on Schedule 8 of the Wildlife Act 1990.
Due to the location of this property immediately adjacent to an area of maritime soft cliff habitat, and therefore, the potential for this to plant to spread into the wild from the garden area, montbretia should be removed from the planting list. We also recommend that red valerian is removed from the planting list because, though not listed on Schedule 8, it is also a non-native plant which has a tendency to spread and could become a problem in the soft cliff habitat.
