Guidance on replacement windows in Conservation Areas
Requires replacement windows visible from public thoroughfares to have the same method of opening as originals (preferably repair originals if possible), same pattern and section of glazing bars, and same frame sections. Officer assessed the proposal against this as the existing mock sash top-opening windows were proposed to be replaced with bottom-opening windows, failing the matching opening method test. Amendment to top openers with horns would satisfy the policy and preserve/enhance the conservation area.
