Planning Application 22/01158/B Condition 10
A lot of the planting included on this application was already put in place while our 2nd application was on going. We were advised although it wouldn’t affect any outcome that it wouldn’t do any harm. We have chosen plants that "are in keeping with the area" and which will also create horse friendly screening, all except one are on the list that we were supplied. I have numbered the planting for easier explanation: 1.40 x Scots pine trees. The scots pine (X 40 February 2022) cover approx. 30metres and are planted 1.5m apart with the second row staggered 2m away. We would expect these to be around 5ft high after 5 years

2. Hawthorn (X30 February 2022) none of the plants have died, after being ate by the sheep, they are just smaller, these plants however will be denser at the bottom as the hawthorn seems to be tree like. These were planted as bare root stems and were planted over approx. 13 m, 18 inches apart. They are expected to be 4 to 5 ft. high after 5 years. 3. Hawthorn stems (X30) will be planted to match the opposite side, 18 inches apart and will be November 2024, these will be expected to reach 3-5ft after5 years. 4. 4.Elaegnus X40 July 2022, these cover approx. 60 foot and were planted 18 inches apart, they are expected to be about five foot after 5 years. 5. This is to be a mixed hedge using an assortment of the hedging plants on the native list (Hawthorn, Hazel, Dogwood), this will be planted at the end of the project and will be planted as advised by Watsons but after initial enquiries we have been told we will need approx. 120 plants to cover 35metres, planted 6-12 inches apart. These would be expected to reach around 5ft after five years.
We are not horticulturalists and all planting, spacing and coverage expected have been supplied by Watsons but they have said that weather and environmental factors can have an impact so are all expected but not definite. Obviously we are aware if anything dies or is patchy we will replant. Work on this project is to be finished December 2025, although due to planting season no.5 would be April 2026
