General Policy 2
General Policy 2 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan (2016) requires developments not to adversely affect amenity of local residents or character of the locality, particularly clause (g). The officer assessed the small-scale home salon against this, finding no harm to neighbouring amenity due to limited customers, parking, and noise, thus meeting its aims and objectives despite being a business in residential land.
Time limit
The development hereby approved shall be begun before the expiration of four years from the date of this decision notice. Reason: To comply with Article 26 of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2019 and to avoid the accumulation of unimplemented planning approvals.
Personal to applicant
The use hereby approved shall only be for the benefit of Anna Kenna and in accordance with the details set out in the letter from the applicant date stamped the 26th March 2024 and indexed on the 26th March 2024. Reason: The development hereby approved is only acceptable in this location because of the special circumstances of the applicant.
As a single person operation from home the proposal will have no significant negative impact upon highway safety, network functionality and/or parking. Recommend the salon is a single person operation (controlled via condition).
