Planning Statement West Loughan
Address: West Loughan, Bretney Road, Jurby East, Isle of Man
Proposal: Conversion of 2No. Existing stable blocks into tourism accommodation.
Stable size: Stable 1 = 236m2 Stable 2 = 190m2
Amount of units: Proposal shows a total amount of units of 8. The layouts have been created with flexibility in mind. Units can be separated or opened up dependent on size of groups letting out. Following a site meeting with the Tourism Department it was proposed that 'super cottages' were an area of the tourism industry on the island which was lacking but in demand. This can be achieved in the designs. They would be self sufficient units and not catered.
Amount of tourists using site: Given the total number of units it is proposed a maximum amount of tourists being on site at any one time would be 24.
Parking: As shown to the plans, parking spaces could easily be achieved along with the existing timber pen to the rear being utilised for shelter.
Planting: As shown on the proposed site plan, planting of hedging/trees is proposed. Final species to be used has not been confirmed but it is proposed to use common Manx species such as Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Hazel, Hedge Bedstraw and Red Campion. If required specific planting scheme can be confirmed with DEFRA.
Existing site:
Stable 02 rear elevation.
