TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1999 The Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure)(No 2) Order 2013
In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture determined to REFUSE an application by Department Of Infrastructure Public Estates And Housing, Ref 18/01200/GB, for the Installation of two replacement doors and windows (in association with 18/01201/CON) at Harbour Office And IOM Coastguards Station Corner Of East Quay And Crown Street Peel Isle Of Man IM5 1AR for the following reason(s):
- The applicant has not adequately demonstrated that the repair of the existing, original timber windows and timber doors would impractical enough to as to provide circumstances that are so exceptional as to justify a relaxation. Regardless, the proposed replacements will remove original features of special architectural or historic interest, which it currently possesses and replaces them with ones constructed out of unsympathetic materials. The proposed works would have a substantial, harmful impact on the Registered Building contrary to Environment Policy 32 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2016, Policies RB/3 and RB/5 of Planning Policy Statement 1/01 and Planning Circular 1/98.

This decision was made by a Principal Planner in accordance with the authority delegated to them.
This decision refers only to that applied for under the The Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure)(No 2) Order 2013.

Any appeal against this decision must be in accordance with the criteria set down in that instrument.
Specifically, a valid appeal must be in writing, signed by the appellant, and submitted to the Department within 21 days of the date of this Notice. To further validate the appeal it must contain:
- Payment of a planning appeal fee as prescribed in the current Fees Order;
- The reasons for making the appeal; and
- An election to have the appeal conducted by means of an inquiry (a hearing) or by means of written representation.
